Summer Jeans – What’s Hot
Shopping For Jeans
Having spent the last couple of days researching the Jeans market, both on the High Street and On-Line i have found a few favourites that would definitely work with a number of combinations this summer. The range of styles from many of the top high street stores can be overwhelming, therefore i find it best to focus on one particular look or cut of denim – rather than rake through every single rack looking for that exceptional pair to leap out. This can save both time and money, as you are less likely to pick up a random pair just for the sake of it. It is also helpful to either bring with you and even attempt to try on whatever top or shoes that you plan to wear with your jeans, this can be invaluable in choosing which pair to go for. Of course, if you are shopping online it can be more difficult to judge what will work – however – the majority of clothing websites nowadays have decent images and descriptions of their products.
2008 Summer Jeans – The Contenders
Anyway, without any further ado, here are a few of the pairs of jeans that i felt represented the best of 2008 summer denim. Styles in Fashion for this summer are belted-skinnys, high-waisted bootcuts and cropped for when the sun actually decides to come out.
Peacocks Jeans – An excellent range of styles at great prices. I purchased a pair of white belted Skinny Jeans and a pair of dark wash cropped. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of both pairs, especially as they cost me a grand total of £24.00.
Evisu – The most expensive Jeans here – these Japanese jeans are produced from original 1950s looms and are great quality, best to buy from the official site as fakes are rife on ebay. My favourite pair are these Geisha Slim Pinks.
River Island – Excellent range, but i felt that they were a little expensive. The quality is good but didnt seem to be that much better than Primark or Peacocks.
Primark – Great value – excellent for scuffing around in!
Top Shop – A decent range, again felt they were a bit pricey.
Matalan – Surprisingly Decent range at good prices.
These were a few of the jeans that i felt offered the best contemporary style. I think that the best course of action to take would be to buy a more expensive pair from say Evisu or Levi’s and a couple of cheaper pairs from Peacocks or Matalan. There is no shortage of options out there, if there’s anything that ive missed then please get in touch.
